Horticultural Pumice

Horticulture Pumice is a light siliceous vesicular volcanic rock that is suitable for use in horticulture and hydroponics. 

Our pumice is mined from a land-based resource on the North Island of New Zealand and is characterised by its relative hardness and lightweight composition. This hardness and porosity allows for free drainage and thus lowers the risk of root rot diseases. Its porosity provides air spaces that maintain aerobic conditions around the roots while water is contained within the pores. Surface tension around the outside of the pumice particles increases the water-holding capacity of the growing medium.

Your new pumice comes washed and screened to ensure that no 'fine' particles are included that may cause 'concreting'.

Packaging: Our pumice is packaged by hand. Please bear in mind that this product may be quite heavy depending on what size and/or number of bags you order. I do not advise ordering it with plants for shipping and if you wish to order more than one bag, this can be subject to additional shipping charges and non-express shipping. If this is the case, you will be contacted before the order is sent to you. 

Pumice grade: 1-7mm or 7-20mm

Size Options: 2L and 5L.

Please note: Our substrate mixes are sold by volume and are measured at the time of packing. Some settling of the contents may occur during shipping.
